If you have a cabbage tree in your yard you might like to repurpose the dried leaves that blow off. You can’t put them in green waste so they become pretty problematic to dispose of.

I tie them into little bundles and in no time they become dry and are awesome to start your fire with. I supply some of the oldies in the neighbourhood as it saves them from trying to chop kindling or their fingers…It’s a win win I say!

Other options for starting the fire with are pinecones, dried harakeke pods or one friend of mine suggested pine needles in repurposed envelopes...who needs those horrible smelling packaged pieces of goo???
